We are glad to announce that Next2U won the Pathfinder program by Cortivision and has been awarded the free usage of a Cortivision PhotonCap spectrometer for fNIRS spectroscopy.

Next2U submitted a study proposal to the Pathfinder program titled: “Evaluation of Mental Workload through innovative metrics
and artificial intelligence approaches for aeronautic applications”. The project aims to evaluate the cognitive workload of aircraft pilots by the means of multimodal investigation of both the autonomic and the central nervous system acttivity, an approach that will benefit from the usage of fNIRS spectroscopy. We expect to objetctively assess the perceived cognitive workload of pilots of varying age and experience and then develop a machine learning framework that will predict the perceived workload.
Results of this project could well favour the fostering of human-machine interaction in the avionic sector, leading to major technological progress in the engineering of aircraft cockpits and of pilot helmet that will be able to monitor in real-time the cognitive-workload of the pilots.
