The aim of the SI-ROBOTICS proposal is to conceive and develop new solutions in the field of ICT assistive robotics technologies supporting people carrying out health care services, operating with socially acceptable behaviour.
The scientific objective of the SI-ROBOTICS proposal is to conceive and implement technological solutions, easily adaptable, to help aged people in daily activities and to assess the progress of their physical and cognitive decline (fragility, dementia, slight cognitive degeneration). This allow to identify specific challenge for early diagnosis, objective assessment, therapy control and rehabilitation. ICT robotics innovative concepts and solutions will be introduced in which users, IoT devices, social AI-powered robots and Cloud connected objects will collaborate to create a kind of “cognitive agent” to move up user needs e to provide assistance, monitoring and coaching solutions.
The technological objective of the SI-ROBOTICS proposal is to create connected robots able to take on increasingly “human” skills and features, such as perception, adaption, learning, manipulation and interaction. The distinctive characteristic of this proposal will be the implementation of behavioural and interaction advanced models, designed to create a positive perception of therapy to encourage the elderly to participate in their care process.
The proposal is conceived to prove technical feasibility, acceptability and economic sustainability of SI-ROBOTICS solution in the context of nursing home and home environment that expect the presence of fragile people who require attention and a specific and careful interaction, and of caregiver and doctors, who are often overwhelmed and carry out demanding tasks. The ambition of the proposal is to provide and evaluate new assistance processes for a continuative care carried out through a wide range of health services consisting of different levels of assistance in a domestic and residential field.
The expected goals consists in strengthening and promoting the advancement of innovation, automation and the robotics community in Southern Italy, thus favouring the emergence of potential start-ups, not only in the healthcare field but also in other field related to ICT robotics technologies like logistics, medicine, cleaning, etc.
